Incoming UE Art Student to Create Live Painting During Regional Leaders Luncheon
Evansville, Ind. (07/06/2026) — Before beginning her first semester at the University of Evansville (UE) this fall, incoming art student Chloe Mayes will showcase her artistic talents during one of the region's largest civic gatherings.
During the annual Lunch with the Mayors on July 9, Mayes will create a live painting inspired by the communities represented by regional leaders participating in the event. Throughout the luncheon, each mayor will share a landmark, symbol, location, or feature that best represents their community. As the discussion unfolds, Mayes will combine those elements into a single original work celebrating the character, connection, and shared story of the region.
The completed painting will be unveiled at the conclusion of the luncheon. Framed prints of the artwork will be presented to each participating mayor as a commemorative gift.
Mayes, a recent high school and Early College honors graduate, has earned state, regional, and national recognition for her artistic achievements. She will join the University of Evansville this fall to pursue a degree in art.
"Chloe's talent, creativity, and passion exemplify the type of student who thrives at the University of Evansville," said Todd Matteson, Department Chair, Professor of Art. "We're excited to welcome her to campus and look forward to seeing how she continues to grow as an artist."
The live art experience is expected to be witnessed by approximately 380 attendees, including regional business, civic, and community leaders, as well as members of the media.
