UE Emily M. Young Mental Health Clinic Receives $250,000 Grant from United Way

Evansville, Ind. (08/04/2026) — The University of Evansville (UE) Emily M. Young Mental Health Clinic has received a $250,000 grant from United Way of Southwestern Indiana through its Pathways to Potential initiative. The award will provide support to comprehensive mental health services for lower-income individuals, families, and others facing significant barriers to care.

"This investment will help us meet our community where they are, even when financial or other barriers stand in the way," said Dr. Jennifer Braun, Director of the UE Emily M. Young Mental Health Clinic and clinical assistant professor of psychology. "It will also strengthen the supervised clinical experience that prepares our UE doctoral students to serve our region as compassionate, highly trained psychologists."

Opened in 2024, the UE Emily M. Young Mental Health Clinic is a community-based outpatient clinic serving individuals aged five and older. The Clinic offers individual and group therapy, psychological assessment and testing, and medication management through an interdisciplinary team of experienced, licensed professionals.

The Clinic also serves as a training site for advanced doctoral students in UE's Koch Family Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology Program. Student clinicians provide services under the direct supervision of licensed psychologists, connecting accessible community care with the preparation of the region's future mental health workforce.

UE's award is one of six grants totaling $976,393 announced by United Way of Southwestern Indiana in the third round of funding for its Mental Health Pathway. The initiative focuses on improving access to behavioral health services, increasing mental health care awareness, and helping individuals and families develop skills that support resilience and overall well-being.
