Local Students Graduate from University of Evansville

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that multiple local students graduated during the Winter Commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 12 in UE's Student Fitness Center. Local Residents Design Heating Systems for Mongolian Buildings for University of Evansville Mechanical Engineering Project

In August 2012, a group of University of Evansville students spent their last days of summer break halfway around the world in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The data collection and research trip marked the beginning of a mechanical engineering senior project for the following local residents, who are among eight UE students designing alternative heating systems for two buildings owned by G.O. Ministries, a nonprofit organization based in Louisville, Kentucky.

Local Residents Design New Trail for University of Evansville Civil Engineering Project

The Evansville, Indiana, riverfront is a popular location for walking, running, and biking, and multiple local residents plan to improve it even more by designing a new 7-mile trail that connects the riverfront to neighboring Newburgh, Indiana. The following local residents are among seven University of Evansville students who are designing a multi-use trail for the Evansville-Area Trails Coalition (ETC) as their senior civil engineering project:

Local Residents Participate in University of Evansville Senior Nursing Project

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, around 80 percent of adolescents are in excellent or very good health - but 18 percent are obese, 9 percent smoked cigarettes in the last month, and most do not meet recommendations for consuming fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. Nutrition, fitness, and health risk factors are just a few of the topics about which local residents are striving to educate Evansville, Indiana, teenagers as part of the University of Evansville's senior nursing project. Each year, UE's senior nursing students work with community leaders on a health promotion project. The following local residents will participate in this year's project, titled "I'm Healthy and I Know It!," which runs from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, November 15:

Local Students to Participate in Business, Engineering Projects in Mongolia

Local residents are among the eight University of Evansville students who will spend their last days of summer break halfway across the world, participating in business and engineering projects in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. From August 8-19, the following students in UE's Schroeder Family School of Business Administration and College of Engineering and Computer Science will work with the nonprofit organization G.O. Ministries on several projects in Mongolia, from expanding local craft businesses to finding sustainable heat sources for buildings:

Local Residents Help UE Concrete Canoe Team to National Success

Despite unexpected challenges, such as a canoe that cracked in half, several local residents helped the University of Evansville's Concrete Canoe team earn 12th place overall in the American Society of Civil Engineers National Concrete Canoe Competition aEUR" the team's second highest finish in its 12-year history. The 25th annual competition took place June 14-16 at the University of Nevada, Reno. Twenty-two teams from some of the top engineering schools in the United States and Canada competed and were judged on the design, construction, innovative features, and racing ability of each concrete canoe. UE's 17-member team of civil engineering majors included the following local residents:

Local Residents to Participate in National Concrete Canoe Competition

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that local residents will compete in the 25th Annual American Society of Civil Engineers National Concrete Canoe Competition, held June 14-16 at the University of Nevada, Reno. The competition provides civil engineering students with a practical, hands-on application of the principles they learn in the classroom, along with leadership and project management skills. The 22 teams that qualified for this year's National Concrete Canoe Competition, representing some of the top engineering schools in the United States and Canada, will be judged on the design, construction, innovative features, and racing ability of each concrete canoe. UE's purple and gray canoe, "Tempest," measures 20 feet long and weighs 250 pounds. Local residents competing on UE's team are:

Local Students Develop New Products for Sporting Goods Company

After spending two weeks in an intensive summer course, University of Evansville students have designed new products that may go to market as part of Evansville sporting goods company Escalade Sports' portfolio. These local residents are among the six students enrolled in Business 380 (Applied Product Development), an interdisciplinary two-week course conducted as a collaboration between UE's Schroeder Family School of Business Administration and the College of Engineering and Computer Science:
