Local Residents to Help Nonprofit Organization Launch Medical Facility in Dominican Republic

As part of an intensive summer course in applied process development - and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a developing country - local residents enrolled at the University of Evansville will spend the next two weeks in the Dominican Republic. From July 23-August 6, the following local students will be among a group of 15 UE business, communication, engineering, and nursing students working with the nonprofit organization G.O. Ministries to develop plans for the organization's new medical facility, currently under construction in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

This summer, a group of University of Evansville students will add an international dimension to their education: They will spend five weeks in China as part of a study abroad program that examines the country's health care system. Local Residents to Travel to Israel for Archaeological Dig

Local residents will be among a group of University of Evansville students, alumni, and faculty who will spend their summer exploring archaeological remains in northern Israel as participants in the inaugural Jezreel Expedition dig season. Along with the Zinman Institute of Archaeology at Israel's University of Haifa, the University of Evansville co-sponsors the Jezreel Expedition, an archaeological project founded in 2012. Jennie Ebeling, chair of UE's Department of Archaeology and Art History, and Norma Franklin of the Zinman Institute of Archaeology serve as co-directors of the project. From May 19-June 15, the following local UE archaeology students and recent graduates will join approximately 15 students from North American universities (including new Jezreel Expedition consortium partner Vanderbilt University) in excavating three areas of archaeological significance:

Multiple local residents are among the 27 University of Evansville students participating in the Schroeder Family School of Business's annual entrepreneurship fair. The fair will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, February 15 in the Schroeder Family School of Business Building's Bernhardt Atrium. Admission is free and open to the public. Ten student-founded businesses will showcase their products and services at the fair as part of a two-semester curriculum in entrepreneurship, taught by UE assistant professor of management Joe Trendowski.
