University of Evansville to Host IU Law Professor for Constitution Day

Evansville, Ind. (09/14/2026) — The University of Evansville (UE) will welcome Indiana University (IU) Maurer School of Law Professor Luis Fuentes-Rohwer for a Constitution Day presentation at 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, in the Smythe Lecture Hall (Schroeder 170).

The presentation will explore "The Constitutional Transformation of Race and Democracy after Callais," examining the evolving relationship between race, democracy, and constitutional law in the United States.

Fuentes-Rohwer is a professor at Indiana University Maurer School of Law whose scholarship focuses on constitutional law, voting rights, race and the law, and democratic institutions. His visit will provide members of the UE community with an opportunity to engage with a scholar whose work examines some of the nation's most important constitutional questions.

The event is open to the UE community and will be of particular interest to students considering law school or studying political science, history, and related fields.

Constitution Day is observed annually on September 17 to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution and recognize the document's enduring role in American democracy. UE's Constitution Day programming provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and members of the community to consider contemporary constitutional issues and their broader significance.
