University of Evansville Theatre Presents CLYDE'S
Evansville, Ind. (02/10/2025) — The University of Evansville Theatre commences its Spring 2025 season with Lynn Nottage's CLYDE'S. This production opens at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, in the May Studio Theatre. Additional performances are at 7:30 p.m., on Feb. 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and at 2:00 p.m. on Feb. 16, 22, and 23. From the creative and consummate mind of a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this razor-sharp comedy explores the inner workings of a roadside sandwich shop and the complicated lives of the denizens who work there. These formerly incarcerated members of the kitchen staff are under the purview of an unyielding chef, and they all embark on an ambitious quest to create the perfect sandwich. What ensues is a riotous but heartwarming story of humanity on the road to redemption. Nominated for the 2022 Tony Award for Best Play, this script was the most-produced play in America in 2022-23.
CLYDE'S is directed by Visiting Assistant Professor Liz Jenkins '05. Associate Professor Eric Renschler '83 serves as the scenic designer; Hilary Rubio '18, guest artist, serves as the costume designer; Sean Nicholl, guest artist, serves as the lighting designer; Visiting Assistant Professor Jon Robertson serves as the sound designer; Saray Rodriguez Hernandez '27, a sophomore theatre management major from Caracas, Venezuela, is the cultural coordinator; Professor Diane Brewer serves as dramaturg; Maya Barry '25, a senior stage management major from Marietta, Ga., is the stage manager, and Visiting Assistant Professor Scott Carpenter '05 serves as the technical director.
The cast features Brynna Waters, a senior performance major from Brownsburg, Ind., as Clyde; Tomi Akinwande, a junior performance major from Houston, Texas, as Letitia; Quinn McGaugh, a junior performance major from McAlester, Okla., as Jason; Santiago Rueda, a first-year performance major from Garden City, Kan., as Rafael, and Alijah J. Roberson, a junior performance major from Atlanta, Ga., as Montrellous.
Adult ticket prices are $20 and $18 for senior adults, UE employees. and non-UE students. UE students may obtain one free ticket with their student ID by visiting the ticket office.
