UE Club Assists Local Organizations on Southside Transformation Initiative
Evansville, Ind. (03/25/2026) — The Enterprise Business & Innovation Club (EBIC) at the University of Evansville (UE) is creating opportunities for students to engage directly with real-world business challenges while developing leadership and professional skills.
EBIC is designed to promote a comprehensive understanding of modern business practices through workshops, guest speakers, networking opportunities, and project-based learning. The organization fosters a collaborative environment where students gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge that prepares them for their careers.
Currently, EBIC members are partnering with Community One and the Southwest Indiana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on Evansville's Southside Transformation project. This research initiative aims to generate actionable insights that support local businesses and guide future economic development efforts. The study focuses on identifying the factors that contribute to small business sustainability and success, examining operational practices, financial strategies, and broader environmental influences within the city's South Side community.
"EBIC empowers students to directly partner with Evansville's industry and community leaders, building meaningful connections and gaining a deeper understanding of how business works in practice," said Dr. Yolanda Obaze, Associate Dean of the Schroeder Family School of Business Administration. "Through this work, students apply their skills to create tangible value and drive positive, communitycentered solutions that support economic growth across the Evansville community."
In addition to research initiatives, EBIC continues to bring industry professionals to campus. The organization recently hosted an interactive entrepreneurship and marketing workshop featuring Sener Kokrusuz, CEO of the American 7s Football League (A7FL). During the session, Kokrusuz shared his background in technology and entrepreneurship, highlighting how he built a nationwide league. Students analyzed the league's digital presence from a Gen Z perspective and explored potential remote internship opportunities.
