Whitney Cohen Shares Global Experiences During International Education Week

2011 Nov 21

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that Whitney Cohen of Sylmar was among the students selected to hold public presentations on their international study, research, and internship experiences. Cohen, a graduate of Sylmar High School majoring in International Studies, presented "Tanzania: Swahili, Peanut Butter, and Darasani."

Cohen's presentation was part of the University of Evansville's fifth annual International Education Week, observed November 14-18. The public presentation took place November 15 in UE's Ridgway University Center.

International Education Week was launched in 1999 as a joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education. Each November, the University of Evansville joins educational institutions around the world in celebrating the benefits of international education and cultural exchange. In particular, the University's series of programs recognizes the accomplishments and aspirations of UE community members - including students, faculty, and administrators - as they engage the world.

The University of Evansville proudly welcomes international students from around the world and encourages students to pursue academic and cultural experiences abroad. This semester, 174 international students from approximately 50 countries are enrolled at UE. During the 2011-12 academic year, 335 UE students are expected to study abroad in approximately 20 countries. With approximately 50 percent of undergraduates studying abroad, UE is a national leader as recognized by the Institute of International Education's Open Doors report, which this year ranked UE 13th in the nation for undergraduate study abroad participation among master's-granting institutions.
