Samantha Montgomery of Fishers Selected to Present at University of Evansville Research Conference

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that Samantha Montgomery of Fishers, IN, was selected to present original research at the University's ninth annual MESCON, a math, engineering, and science undergraduate research conference. The conference took place Saturday, March 23 in the Koch Center for Engineering and Science.

Montgomery, who is majoring in Environmental Administration at UE, presented a poster titled "Evaluating Effects of Soil Moisture on Establishment of Arundinaria gigantea at Vectren Conservation Park" and a presentation titled "Competition of Four Native Grass Species with Johnson Grass, Sorghum halepense."

Approximately 125 students from eight Midwestern universities participated in this year's MESCON. Members of the University of Evansville faculty and professional community judged students' presentations both on quality and technical merits.

Following a keynote address by James McLurkin, PhD, assistant professor of computer science at Rice University and former lead research scientist for iRobot Corp., monetary awards were presented for outstanding research.

MESCON 2013 was sponsored by CIHOLAS, Inc., with additional funding from Mead Johnson.
