Monica Meisling of Newburgh Inducted into International Foreign Language Honor Society

University of Evansville student Monica Meisling, a resident of Newburgh, IN, has been inducted into Phi Sigma Iota, an international foreign language honor society.

Meisling, a graduate of Reitz Memorial High School, is majoring in Nursing.

Meisling was inducted into UE's chapter of Phi Sigma Iota at the annual initiation ceremony on Sunday, April 1, along with nine other UE students representing seven languages.

Phi Sigma Iota's members are selected from among outstanding advanced undergraduate students and faculty in foreign languages. UE's chapter has initiated 144 members since it was installed in April 2000.

To be eligible for membership in Phi Sigma Iota, students must have a major or minor in a field related to foreign languages and literatures, have completed at least one course in a foreign language at the third-year level, have completed 45 semester hours or the equivalent, maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and rank in the top 35 percent of their class.
