2011 Oct 24

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that Liz Leehy of Glen Carbon has been selected as an intern for Measure: A Review of Formal Poetry, published by the University of Evansville Press. Leehy is a graduate of Edwardsville Senior High School majoring in Creative Writing.

As a Measure intern, Leehy's responsibilities include reviewing submissions from some of the world's most acclaimed contemporary poets, copy editing and proofreading, and offering recommendations to the journal's co-editors and staff.

"I'm thrilled to have Liz Leehy on board as an intern for Measure," said Paul Bone, co-editor of Measure and chair of UE's Department of Creative Writing. "This internship provides an opportunity for Liz to gain real-world editing experience and make valuable contributions to a journal widely recognized as a leader in the revival of formal poetry."

Measure is a biannual journal dedicated to publishing the best metrical, English-language verse from the United States and abroad. Each issue features poetry from both established and emerging writers, interviews with important contemporary poets, and critical essays on poetry that has helped to shape the craft.

Funding for Measure is provided by a generous grant from the Ball Brothers Foundation Venture Fund, a program administered by the Independent Colleges of Indiana for the benefit of Indiana's independent colleges and universities. Additional funding and support is provided by the University of Evansville.
