2012 Jan 19

Fitchburg resident Kathryn VonDerHeide, a music major at the University of Evansville, will spend this weekend at the National Association of Music Merchants convention in Anaheim, California.

VonDerHeide, a graduate of Verona Area High School, is one of four UE music students who will attend clinics, performances, and seminar sessions at the NAMM convention, one of the largest musical instrument and product trade shows in the world. Approximately 90,000 people are expected to attend the show, which runs from January 19-22.

While in California, VonDerHeide and fellow UE students will also meet with professionals in the recording industry and tour the legendary EastWest Recording Studios in Hollywood. Among the artists who have recorded at EastWest are Bob Dylan, Elton John, Madonna, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and U2.

Brian St. John, UE director of orchestras and advisor in the music management program, will accompany the group.
