Cole Eckert of Evansville Fights Hunger at 3rd Annual Trick Or Eat

While most trick-or-treaters hoped for candy this Halloween, University of Evansville student Cole Eckert of Evansville went door-to-door with a different purpose: collecting canned goods for the Tri-State Food Bank.

Eckert, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity who is majoring in Chemistry, was one of 72 UE students who participated in the third annual Trick Or Eat, sponsored by UE Greek Life. Spreading out across neighborhoods near UE's campus, the group collected approximately 700 cans in two hours on Sunday, October 30.

"Thanks to the efforts of volunteers such as Cole Eckert, the Tri-State Food Bank is able to distribute food to 33 counties in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky, where more than 126,000 people live in poverty," said Mary Blair, executive director of the Tri-State Food Bank. "All of us at the food bank are truly grateful for Cole's commitment to fighting hunger and improving the quality of life for families and children in our community."
