Calli Pugh of Nashville Named University of Evansville Orientation Leader

2012 Feb 8

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that Calli Pugh of Nashville, TN, has been named an orientation leader (OL) for the 2012-13 academic year. Pugh, a graduate of Hillsboro High School who is majoring in Major Discovery, is one of 13 new OLs selected from a pool of 47 applicants.

In this volunteer position, Pugh will guide new UE students through the transition into college. OLs' chief responsibility is to coordinate Welcome Week, a program designed to make students' first week at the University exciting, fun, and informative.

During Welcome Week, each OL leads a small group of freshmen in games, team-building sessions, service projects, and other activities. OLs often maintain close relationships with the students in their small groups and continue to serve as mentors long after Welcome Week.

"Orientation Leaders are some of the most visible, highly regarded student leaders on the University of Evansville campus," said Dana Clayton, vice president for student affairs and dean of students. "OLs are selected for their energy, enthusiasm, campus involvement, and commitment to serving others. As an OL, Calli is sure to make a lasting impact on the lives of many students."
