Brooke Lewis of Evansville Presents Education Research

2012 Jul 13

Evansville resident Brooke Lewis, a University of Evansville graduate student, will soon complete the final step toward earning a Master of Science degree in education: an in-depth presentation of research. Lewis will present "Are School Uniforms a Good Fit?" on Tuesday, July 17 in UE's Ridgway University Center.

Lewis is one of four Master of Science in Education students who will present individual research projects, followed by a group presentation about their experiences at Harlaxton College, the British campus of the University of Evansville. From June 23-July 1, the students were enrolled in "Educational Collaboration and Leadership in a Global Society," a 10-day course that included site visits to British schools. UE students observed classes, toured schools, and met with faculty and staff to discuss each school's unique educational approaches.

The University of Evansville's 14-month Master of Science in Education program offers experienced teachers the opportunity to become more effective instructional leaders, mentors, and role models.

"The Master of Science in Education at the University of Evansville is a unique program. Its strength is its focus on classroom-centered and application-based learning," said Chuck Watson, chair of UE's School of Education. "The curriculum that stems from that focus is both rigorous and exciting, because teachers in the program will find that the lessons they learn here can be immediately applied to their own classrooms."
