Brittany Triggs of South Bend Studies Abroad in Dominican Republic

2012 Jan 6

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that South Bend native Brittany Triggs, a graduate of James W. Riley High School, will spend the Spring 2012 semester studying abroad in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Triggs, who is majoring in International Studies, will study at the Pontifica Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in a program run by the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE).

"At the University of Evansville, we're committed to providing students such as Brittany Triggs with life-transforming educational experiences abroad," said Earl Kirk, UE director of study abroad. "By spending a semester in Dominican Republic, Brittany will gain cultural awareness, unforgettable memories, and a truly global education."

The University of Evansville is a recognized leader in study abroad. In the 2011 Open Doors report, the Institute of International Education ranked UE in the nation's top 15 master's-granting institutions for study abroad participation. Approximately half of UE graduates study abroad during their college careers, and Triggs is one of 136 UE students abroad for the Spring 2012 semester.
