Bethany Bonifield of Jeffersonville Presents Research at University of Evansville's MESCON

2012 Mar 22

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that Bethany Bonifield of Jeffersonville has been selected to present original research at the University's eighth annual MESCON (Math, Engineering, and Science Conference), held Saturday, March 24 in the Koch Center for Engineering and Science.

Bonifield, who is majoring in Biology at UE, will present a poster titled "Finding a Variable DNA Region to Examine Relationships in Closely Related Blueberry Species from Vaccinium Section Cyanococcus."

MESCON is a competitive, multidisciplinary, academic event designed to promote undergraduate research and projects in mathematics, engineering, and science. Undergraduates from nearly a dozen participating universities will present formal conference papers and oral presentations, and/or present posters illustrating current research or project-related work.

Members of the University of Evansville faculty and professional community will judge presentations both on quality and technical merits. Following a keynote address by Arnold Lumsdaine, PhD, senior research and development engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, monetary awards will be presented for outstanding participation in engineering, chemistry, biology, physics, and mathematics.

MESCON 2012 is supported by Donald and Carol Tevault. For more information on MESCON, please visit csserver.evansville.edu/mescon.
