Art by Amanda Topper of Evansville Earns Award in Juried Exhibition

The University of Evansville is proud to announce that artwork by Evansville resident Amanda Topper was honored last night at the opening reception and awards presentation for the 50th Annual Student Juried Exhibition at UE's Melvin Peterson Gallery.
Topper, a graduate of Signature School who is majoring in Visual Communication Design, received the Dorothea Schlechte Award for a senior art major. Topper also received the Pund Award for Frosting Morning (acrylic) and a first place Program Cover Design Award. Her work is featured on the cover of the art exhibition program.
"This show is full of energetic and expressive artwork, and I'm excited to recognize students such as Amanda Topper for their amazing talents, creative inspiration, and hard work," said Stephanie Frasier, chair of the Department of Art and associate professor of art. "Students such as Amanda are very dedicated to their craft, and I congratulate them on another year of successful projects."
Topper's work is among 97 pieces chosen for the exhibition from 230 submitted entries.
The juror for the exhibition was Susan Bryant, who recently completed a photography exhibition, Presence and Absence, in the Melvin Peterson Gallery. Bryant is a professor of art at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, where she has taught photography for the past 29 years.
The 50th Annual Student Juried Exhibition will remain on display through April 6. The Melvin Peterson Gallery is open 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Admission is free and open to the public.
